Dylan Massey
6th Period
Like many others in my class, I did not see Simon being the one to die in all of this. I believed that he was respected on the island, and was a peaceful member of the group. However, I think he brought it upon himself because after learning that the beast was just a dead pilot; he proceeds to tell the rest of the group. The group, of course, would not believe in his words. The group truly wanted to believe that there was a beast on the island because they didn't want to face the fact that they are the beast. Afterwards, everyone finds reasons to justify the murder of Simon, but they all know what they did and they have to live with it. The only one that accepts the killing is Ralph, he understands that they just murdered one of their own. In the end, this is just the beginning of a long turn of events.
