Simon's Death Response

In Chapter 9 in Lord of The Flies Simon awakens confused and staggers towards the mountain in fear, he makes his way up the mountain and sees a pilot and a flapping parachute, he realizes that him and the other have mistaken him for the beast. Anxious to tell the other that the beast is not real he makes his way towards the light of the fire coming from the beach.

At the beach Piggy and Ralph are having a feast, during the feast Jack expands their invitation to all of Ralph's followers by asking them to join his tribe. Most of them accepted. Ralph try's to convince his followers out of it by asking Jack how he plans on making shelter from the storm considering he hasn't made any shelters yet, Jack then ordered his tribe to start dancing.

While dancing the boys see a shadowy figure make its way out of the forest, which is Simon. The boys caught up in their dance did not recognize the figure and thought that he was the beast. The boys attack Simon and tear them apart with their hands and feet, Simon tries explaining to them what has happened and to remain calm but the boys do not realize and are caught up in the action and in fear and end up killing Simon.
